Nebraska Democratic Party Statement on State of the Union Address by Donald Trump
LINCOLN, NE – The Nebraska Democratic Party Chair and ASDC President Jane Kleeb issued the following statement before President Donald Trump addresses the nation. We will also have a statement after the State of the Union:
“This evening, President Donald Trump will deliver his State of the Union address that will undoubtedly lie about how affordability is under control. He will try to distract us from what we witness every day at the grocery store and when we pay our bills. He will feed us inaccuracies of the jobs report, our standing on the world stage, and how tariffs have benefited us. He will tell us not to believe our own eyes with videos regarding ICE agents murdering Americans, and ignore daily governmental overreach from his executive orders and cabinet members’ misconduct.
Trump’s illegal tariffs cost each Nebraskan, on average, $1,700. So while Trump will try to lie his way out of a disastrous first year tonight, Americans really want to know when he will cut the check to all of us for taking money out of our wallets.
We remind all Americans that Donald Trump’s biggest lie during the campaign trail was that he would unite the country. He has done quite the opposite and, in the process, has sided with the billionaires, big oil, big pharma, and big tech. All the while, farmers, ranchers, working families, seniors, immigrants, and Nebraskans across our state are left holding the bag while his family makes billions. No amount of lies and bragging in front of Congress and the nation can change what his most recent approval numbers confirm – Trump continues to move our country in the wrong direction.
The State of the Union will be full of Trump’s higher prices, empty wallets, and broken promises.”
