Unless, of course, you count that impeachment thing.<\/p>\n

And if you listen to President Trump\u2019s Republican Apologists, the House Judiciary Committee hearings that started this week should not be happening — because, well, some folks are MAD.<\/p>\n

This dynamic certainly did not escape the attention of the\u00a0Washington Post\u2019s Dana Milbank:<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

The House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday entered into democracy\u2019s most sacred ritual, that solemn moment when the people\u2019s representatives assemble to hear testimony about Jonathan Turley\u2019s dog.<\/em><\/p>\n

For reasons not entirely clear, Republicans decided that Turley, the television pundit and George Washington University law professor, would be the best person in the land to make the legal case against impeachment. But at Wednesday\u2019s kick-off hearing, in which three legal scholars argued that President Trump\u2019s actions met the constitutional definition of high crimes and misdemeanors, Turley countered with a case less constitutional than canine.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI get it: You are mad,\u201d he testified. \u201cThe president is mad. My Democratic friends are mad. My Republican friends are mad. My wife is mad. My kids are mad. Even my dog seems mad \u2014 and Luna is a goldendoodle and they don\u2019t get mad. So we\u2019re all mad.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Damn right we are! But nowhere in the Constitution does it state that a president shall not be impeached if people — or their dogs — are mad.<\/em><\/p>\n

Back in Nebraska, we learned that several GOP officeholders —\u00a0Sens. Ben Sasse and Deb Fischer, Rep. Don Bacon and Gov. Pete Ricketts<\/strong>\u00a0— received generous campaign donations from Republican Mega-Donor\u00a0Paul Singer.<\/strong><\/p>\n

And Singer’s Elliott Management is\u00a0being blamed for the demise of Cabela’s<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and the loss of 2,000 jobs in Sidney. Singer made a tidy $90 million profit on the deal.<\/p>\n

What do Sasse, Fischer, Bacon and Ricketts have to say about that?<\/p>\n

Nothing. Nada. Zip.<\/p>\n

They are too busy counting the cash.<\/p>\n
