<\/p>\nYesterday afternoon, Jan. 29th, Steve Lathrop officially filed to represent the 12th District in the Nebraska Legislature. Lathrop previously served 8 years as a State Senator from District 12 from 2007 to 2015, including six years as Chairman of the Business and Labor Committee. Lathrop has overseen reforms of the Beatrice State Developmental Center, Nebraska\u2019s unemployment insurance fund, and was selected by his legislative colleagues to oversee the major investigation into the Department of Corrections.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter months of talking with neighbors, and community leaders, I\u2019m thrilled to officially file as a candidate to represent District 12. I\u2019m grateful for our wide-range of supporters who have helped our campaign gain significant momentum.\u201d Lathrop said. \u201cThrough a robust grassroots organizing effort, we have engaged in thousands of conversations with voters throughout Millard and Ralston. The message we are hearing is clear, we need consensus-building, problem-solvers now more than ever to help build a better future for our state and our families.\u201d<\/p>\n
Lathrop has received the support of working families and labor leaders, while a high rating from the State Chamber has earned him the support of business leaders across the state. Lathrop earned a reputation as a pragmatic leader in the Legislature advocating for smart investments in job training and economic development, while helping pass the largest tax cut in Nebraska history.<\/p>\n

Steve Lathrop is a graduate of Creighton University and Creighton University School of Law and native of Omaha. He is a partner with Hauptman O\u2019Brien Wolf & Lathrop. Lathrop is the proud father of four daughters. He enjoyed several years of coaching Ralston girls softball and Mary Our Queen soccer teams. Lathrop is a member of St. Gerald\u2019s Catholic Church.<\/p>\n
