{"id":7859,"date":"2019-03-02T08:32:54","date_gmt":"2019-03-02T14:32:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/nebraskadem.wpenginepowered.com\/?p=7515"},"modified":"2019-04-02T10:15:00","modified_gmt":"2019-04-02T15:15:00","slug":"statement-of-ndp-associate-chair-frank-lamere-on-the-zachary-bearheels-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nebraskademocrats.org\/ar\/blog\/statement-of-ndp-associate-chair-frank-lamere-on-the-zachary-bearheels-case\/","title":{"rendered":"Statement of NDP Associate Chair Frank LaMere on the Zachary BearHeels Case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u0641\u064a \u064a\u0648\u0645 \u0627\u0644\u062c\u0645\u0639\u0629\u060c\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.omaha.com\/news\/courts\/prosecutors-drop-assault-case-against-omaha-cop-who-punched-mentally\/article_23475f77-a81f-5358-8d5b-5aa3e78d30ec.html\">Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine announced<\/a><\/strong> that his office will not move forward with a misdemeanor assault trial against Ryan McClarty, a former Omaha police officer, in connection with the\u00a0June 2017 death of a mentally ill Oklahoma man who was stranded in Omaha.\u00a0Kleine had charged McClarty, 28, with third-degree assault after cruiser camera video showed McClarty punching Zachary BearHeels 13 times in 15 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Following is a statement from NDP Associate Chair Frank LaMere, a member of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The justice in system in Douglas County and the State of Nebraska has broken down!\u00a0 Who can disagree with me?\u00a0 The most vulnerable man in all of Nebraska on a June 2017 night at 60th and Center was tasered and beaten to death by the Omaha Police Department but no one could find any wrongdoing!\u00a0 Zachary Bear Heels was murdered under the &#8216;color of law.&#8217;<\/p>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"edc5l\" data-offset-key=\"au2d9-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"au2d9-0-0\">\u201cWe have offered up our prayers and we have put down tobacco!\u00a0 Our prayers for justice and for Zachary Bear Heels to be able to rest have been heard and we will find that justice when all of us have taken heart and when we tell Omaha and all of the country that we have had enough!\u00a0 It is foretold that we will gain justice only when we stand up and continue the fight that the City of Omaha and their Police Department started! I am ready to fight! What choice do we have!\u00a0 They are killing our sons and daughters!\u00a0 We must act!<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"edc5l\" data-offset-key=\"7ibgj-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"7ibgj-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"7ibgj-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"edc5l\" data-offset-key=\"6j68g-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"6j68g-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"6j68g-0-0\">\u201cWe must call on the US Attorney and the DOJ to see what is wrong and what has been wrong in the ranks of the Omaha Police Department! We must call on our congressional delegations and Tribal Nations to step up!\u00a0 Where are the warriors and those who pump their fists at the rallies? There is no need to perceive who the enemies may be and what they may think!\u00a0 They find it okay to take the most vulnerable among us and beat us to death!\u00a0 To electrocute us!<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"edc5l\" data-offset-key=\"4etc8-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"4etc8-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"4etc8-0-0\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"\" data-block=\"true\" data-editor=\"edc5l\" data-offset-key=\"dj6un-0-0\">\n<div class=\"_1mf _1mj\" data-offset-key=\"dj6un-0-0\"><span data-offset-key=\"dj6un-0-0\">\u201cThe Omaha Police Department has been allowed by the Courts and the justice system to be the judge, jury, and executioner of Zachary Bear Heels!\u00a0 Investigate The whole damn bunch!
