Native American peace and justice activist Frank LaMere willbe honored posthumously\, with his family present\, as our 2020 Boykin GoodCitizen Award recipient for his decades of service to the Siouxland Community. Thisaward recognizes a community member for their service\, citizenship\, andcollaboration with SCHC for helping those most underserved in our community. GeorgeBoykin\, President of the Siouxland Community Health Foundation\, will presentthe award on behalf of the Community Health Center and Foundation Board ofDirectors. \nFrankLaMere was amember of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska and well known within thecommunity and nationwide for his activism for Native Americans. He served asthe Democratic Chairman of the National Native American Caucus from 1996-2009and served as Delegate to the Democratic National Convention seven consecutive timesand served as first associate chair of the Nebraska Democratic Party. Frankwas also a member of the Siouxland Community Health Center Board of Directorsfrom 2014 until the time of his passing. He was known nationally for his opposition ofthe Keystone XL pipeline and the Whiteclay\, Nebraska liquor stores.  \n  \nFrank was a lifelongsports enthusiast\, becauseof this\, this year’s event will pivot into a more casual atmosphere and willboast a “March Madness” theme with NCAA tournament game viewing\, food andbeverage\, and various sports memorabilia and other items to be auctioned.  It will be held on Saturday\, March 28that the Marriot/Delta Hotel (formerly the Marina Inn) in South Sioux City and willbegin at 6 p.m. with a reception followed by the dinner and program at 7:00p.m. Tickets can be purchased on the Health Center website (www.slandchc.com/special-events/annual-dinner/)\,or by contacting Jessica Krieg by email at jkrieg@slandchc.com or by phone at712-224-1803 \n  \n
