GOP’s Lee Terry worries voters won’t forgive \u2018nice house’ gaffe<\/a><\/p>\n

Locked in what both sides see as a race that will go down to the wire, GOP Congressman Lee Terry tells Nebraska Watchdog he worries voters will hold a nearly year-old gaffe against him.<\/p>\n

A blunder so big that Terry (see exclusive interview above) now calls it, “One of the few moments in life I wish I had over again.”<\/p>\n

Congressman Terry (NE-R) says his 2013 gaffe was a “horrible moment” in his life. That moment came in early October, 2013 when arts of the U.S. government were shutdown. Asked by an Omaha World-Herald reporter (Joe Morton) if he’d continue collecting his paycheck during the shutdown Terry, in no uncertain terms, said yes.<\/p>\n

“Dang straight…I’ve got a nice house and a kid in college, and I’ll tell you we cannot handle it,” said Terry. “Giving our paycheck away when you still worked and earned it? That’s just not going to fly.”<\/p>\n

The gaffe was noted just this week in a Nebraska Democratic Party news release. It’s also expected that the 8-term Congressman’s own words will be used against him in anti-Terry radio and TV ads going into Election Day.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
