To nobody\u2019s surprise, the U.S. House voted Thursday\u00a0to strip Georgia Rep . Marjorie Taylor Greene of her committee assignments<\/a>\u00a0due to her endorsement of radical conspiracy theories and violence against Democratic politicians.<\/p>\n

And predictably, Reps. Don Bacon (Q-NE2, Jeff Fortenberry (Q-NE1), and Adrian Smith (Q-NE3) failed to lead, voted against the measure and endorsed the GOP embrace of QAnon.<\/p>\n

As Esquire\u2019s\u00a0Charles Pierce<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0put it:<\/p>\n

This installment in\u00a0\u201cour exciting new action series, The Insane Clown Party, begins with rookie Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, who represents the 14th Congressional District of Georgia in both the House of Representatives and in the Council of Elders on the Planet Zontar.<\/em><\/p>\n

Put plainly, the House hasn’t seen a crackpot like her since John Randolph, and Randolph a) may never have achieved puberty; b) drank heavily and indulged in opium; c) had a feud with a House colleague that ended up with them throwing crockery at each other and, later, had Randolph beating his fellow congressman over the head with a cane; d) fought a duel with Henry Clay, and e) accused practically everyone he ever met of stealing his money. To me, he’s still the leader in the clubhouse for nuttiest congresscritter, but I have faith in MTG, as she is now called by her many admirers. She’s off to a whopping good start.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Republicans have launched an attack on our voting process in Nebraska at the Legislature.<\/p>\n

As\u00a0reported by the Omaha World-Herald,<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0state Sen. Julie Slama has introduced bills requiring voters to show ID in order to cast a ballot and another measure to change the way Nebraska allocates its five Electoral College votes \u2014 which helped President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris win the White House<\/p>\n

\u201cThe GOP has tried to pass similar legislation for years, and we \u2014 led by our strong Democratic lawmakers and former Independent Sen. Ernie Chambers \u2014 have been able to reject those efforts,\u201d said NDP Chair Jane Kleeb. \u201cWe plan to do it again.\u201d<\/p>\n
