We\u2019re just eight days away from the swearing in of the new, Democratically-controlled Congress you worked so hard to elect. And we’re on day four of Trump’s government shutdown.<\/p>\n

On January 3, we must show up and project our newly-won congressional power in 2019. And we must demand our MoCs stand strong and continue to reject any new funding for Trump\u2019s wall.\u00a0And Indivisibles have\u00a0more than 100 events\u00a0<\/em>planned to kick off the new Congress.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Indivisibles all over the country will show up at district offices or hold rallies in their community to tell their members of Congress (MoCs) that we\u2019re not slowing down now. There\u2019s a lot more in store for our movement: we\u2019re ready to fight for progressive policies, support progressive champions, and hold both Republicans\u00a0jeung\u00a0<\/em>Democrats accountable when they don\u2019t fight for their constituents.<\/p>\n

Your first 2019 to-do: show up on January 3.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

Indivisibles across the country are planning a day of action on the first day of the new Congress. There aren\u2019t any events in your area,\u00a0yet<\/em>. So, if you can, organize your own! Here\u2019s what you can do:<\/p>\n

First,\u00a0check out our January 3 day of action toolkit<\/a>, which includes a rundown on the democracy reform legislation H.R. 1, how to recruit attendees and plan your event logistics, and sample press and social media materials to customize.<\/p>\n

Can\u2019t make it on January 3?\u00a0Here are two things you can do to support our January 3 day of action from afar:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Read our #TrumpShutdown resource and demand a clean, year-long continuing resolution.<\/a>\u00a0Republicans are grasping onto their last bit of power in the House but, in eight days, that changes. This is #OurHouse,\u00a0and in our house, we want a clean CR with no additional funding for the border wall, detention beds, and enforcement agents.<\/p>\n

Read up on H.R. 1 and get your members of Congress on the record.<\/a>\u00a0We expect the first major legislative effort in a Democratically-controlled House to be a democracy reform effort called H.R. 1. Learn everything you need to know about H.R.1 and how to ask your representative to publicly demand that H.R. 1 be a bold, progressive, comprehensive democracy package.<\/p>\n
