The first two public House impeachment hearings this week proved what many of us expected: the Republican Party will stop at nothing to defend President Trump despite a tsunami of damning evidence against him.<\/p>\n

Nh\u01b0 t\u1edd B\u01b0u \u0111i\u1ec7n Washington\u00a0Dana Mil<\/strong><\/a>bank mused<\/strong><\/a>, the GOP unleashed a barrage of \u201cexcuses, defenses, distractions and outright non sequiturs\u201d to defend Trump against charges that he withheld military aid unless Ukraine investigated one of Trump\u2019s chief political rivals, former Vice President Joe Biden, and his son, Hunter.<\/p>\n

The hearings caused\u00a0MSNBC\u2019s Joe Scarburough to speculate<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0c\u00e1i \u0111\u00f3\u00a0T\u1ed5ng th\u1ed1ng Trump<\/span>\u00a0is “either an agent of Russia or he\u2019s a useful idiot,” during a discussion on “Morning Joe.”<\/p>\n

The utter rot that is the current administration reminds us of the words penned by the late Hunter S. Thompson in a 1994 obituary of President Nixon — which could easily be applied to Trump:<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was a swine of a man and a jabbering dupe of a president. Nixon was so crooked that he needed servants to help him screw his pants on every morning.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n
