History was made on Jan. 21, 2017 as millions of Americans marched in small towns and big cities. Allies around the world marched in solidarity. In Nebraska, over 15,000 showed up in Omaha, over 3,000 in Lincoln, 150 strong in rural Loup City and 100 in the western city of Alliance.<\/p>\n

Let’s prove the naysayers wrong by showing up at the ballot box in the same numbers we showed up in the streets.<\/p>\n

Here are some ideas to get you started. Creativity and the spirit of We the People will guide us as we re-build and grow the party. We can do this; we can show our power to ensure our state is more than a one-party, one-ideological democracy.<\/p>\n

Run for Office\u2014at the local level, state level or national level<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Come to the Nebraska Democratic Party\u2019s Blue Bench Project training<\/a> on Jan. 28 in Omaha, Lincoln or Grand Island. We hold these trainings every couple of months.<\/p>\n

Plan to attend an all-day candidate training on Oct. 22, 2017 during the Democrats quarterly meeting in Omaha. Get your ticket now<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Get Democrats Elected\u2014especially women and the men who support us<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Heath Mello<\/a> is running for Omaha Mayor and City Council seats are up in Omaha and Lincoln. The primary elections for Omaha are April 4, 2017 and the general election is May 9, 2017. The primary elections for Lincoln are April 4, 2017 and the general election is May 2, 2017.<\/p>\n

Register to vote online<\/a> (same form is used to change your address or party affiliation).<\/p>\n

Disrupt the Political Status Quo by attending town halls Members of Congress hold and ask them a specific question on an issue that moves you<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

As we learn about the dates for townhalls, we will post them on the NDP trang Facebook<\/a> v\u00e0 trang m\u1ea1ng<\/a>.<\/p>\n

You can help us by sending any dates for Members of Congress meetings you hear about locally to nate@nebraskademocrats.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Write a letter to the editor to your local paper or school newspaper about your experience at a Women’s March or other political event you attended<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Letters do not have to be long or poetic. Just write from your heart. The NDP has some of the newspapers\u2019 links to submit a letter online<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Elected officials read the letters to the editors, so this is a critical way to get messages out. Students can help increase awareness by sharing their ideas and opinions in their school papers.<\/p>\n

Call and write Members of Nebraska\u2019s Congressional delegation often about issues you care about or about bills and cabinet appointments<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Senators Sasse and Fischer along with Representatives Bacon, Fortenberry and Smith represent the state of Nebraska. All are Republicans and very conservative. We hope that changes in 2018 so Nebraska is represented with a more balanced ideological and party affiliation.<\/p>\n
