Priority Bills<\/h2>\n

Senator Crawford’s Priority Bill LB225:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Senator Crawford prioritized LB225 to continue our alternative response child welfare pilot project and to require a report from the Department of Health and Human Services to ensure that we have good information about whether this approach keeps our children safer and make families stronger than our traditional child welfare programs as we decide whether to adopt this approach permanently.\u00a0 The bill now includes a package of bills to strengthen our services to serve and protect our children.\u00a0 The bill includes a provision to pull together a plan that will allow data analysis of outcomes for our children across our various systems so that we can do a better job of knowing how to best invest our resources to improve outcomes for our children.<\/p>\n

Senator Carol Blood’s Priority Bill, LB 88:<\/strong>
\nState Senator Carol Blood\u2019s priority bill LB 88 provides temporary credentials in over 30 specialties under the Uniform Credentialing Act for military spouses. The bill will make it easier for military spouses moving to Nebraska to get jobs that require state licenses, such as those required for nurses, therapists, and other professionals. It will also make Nebraska a more military-friendly state and improve the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) score of Offutt Air Force Base. Offutt is one of Nebraska’s largest employers, with 8,000 military and civilian personnel. The base generates another 4,400 in secondary jobs and has an economic impact of nearly 2.7 billion.<\/p>\n
