With her pockets bulging with money from big internet providers such as <\/span>Comcast, Verizon and Time Warner,<\/span> Sen. Deb Fischer has again failed <\/span>Nebraskans by proclaiming that a Senate vote to preserve so-called net neutrality was a \u201c<\/span>a political distraction<\/span><\/a>. \u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

But the fact that Fischer voted Wednesday against a measure to preserve net neutrality should come as no surprise.<\/span><\/p>\n

That\u2019s because Fischer has accepted more than \u200a<\/span>$381,000 from Internet Service Providers (ISPs)<\/span><\/a> such as <\/span>Comcast, Verizon and Time Warner and people affiliated with those companies.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fischer voted earlier to end net neutrality, <\/span>which protected consumers by requiring that ISPs provide equal internet access to all and prohibiting them from <\/span>blocking, slowing down or charging for specific websites and online content. <\/span><\/p>\n

Fischer also voted to overturn an FCC privacy rule and allow ISPs to sell customer data <\/span>\u2014 <\/span>including Nebraskans\u2019 internet browsing history.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bottom line: Deb. Fischer is a <\/span>Senator for Sale<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSen. Fischer is again talking out of both sides of her mouth,\u201d said Nebraska Democratic Party Chair Jane Kleeb. \u201cShe says she supports protecting internet users <\/span>\u2014 <\/span>Nebraska families, working people and students <\/span>\u2014 <\/span>but jumps in line and votes to protect the likes of the big ISPs who write her checks in exchange for her vote.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
