Nebraska Democratic Party Statement on Governor Jim Pillen’s Partnership with Turning Point USA

LINCOLN, NE – The Nebraska Democratic Party Chair and ASDC President Jane Kleeb and Nebraska Young Democrats President Chloe Fowler issued the following joint statement regarding Governor Jim Pillen’s partnership with Turning Point USA:

“Today, Governor Pillen blurred the line between church and state, and is distracting from the financial shortfall our state is in with this announcement to partner up with Turning Point USA. When he should be focusing on property relief, he is doling out no-bid contracts to financial associates. Sound familiar?

Our young students don’t need Turning Point chapters in their high schools. They need business opportunities and a reason to stay in our state. Jim Pillen should just stop with the bootlicking to Donald Trump, focus on the will of the people, and do his job.” – NDP Chair Jane Kleeb

“Governor Pillen spent years attacking student activism and warning against ‘ideology in classrooms,’ only to now override local control and promote HIS preferred partisan organization. Students should respond by organizing Young Democrats chapters and asserting their right to equal political participation.” – Nebraska Young Democrats President Chloe Fowler
