NDP Chair and ASDC President Jane Kleeb issued the following statement following the passage of LB258, working against the will of voters, as it will change provisions of the minimum wage in Nebraska. The bill dilutes a voter-approved measure from 2022 that sought to raise the minimum wage gradually, with future increases tied to inflation. Furthermore, it creates unfair pay compensation for working minors.
“In yet another betrayal of voters, the legislature ignored the clear voice of Nebraskans who voted to raise the minimum wage for all workers. Our democracy only works when leaders respect the ballot box. Get registered and elect Senators who will protect your voice and vote.”
