Nebraska Democratic Party Statement on Racist Posts by Donald Trump Towards Barack and Michelle Obama

LINCOLN, NE – The Nebraska Democratic Party Chair and ASDC President Jane Kleeb and Executive Director Precious McKesson issued the following joint statement regarding a racist post by Donald Trump towards Barack and Michelle Obama:

“Donald Trump’s latest social media post is racist, dehumanizing, and disgraceful. Once again, he leaned into language that has long been used to demean and dehumanize Black Americans – this time targeting President Barack Obama and the First Lady.

This is not a mistake. It is a pattern. And when a President uses racist tropes, it causes real harm, fuels hatred, and gives permission to demean and dehumanize Black Americans across this country.

We condemn Donald Trump’s racism outright. We reject the division he stokes, and we reaffirm a core truth: diversity is not a weakness – it is the strength of our party and our nation. We will not be silent in the face of hate.” – NDP Chair Jane Kleeb

“The racism displayed by President Trump and his administration is deeply troubling and unacceptable. If this administration believes that disrespectful behavior will distract the American people from concerns about corruption within the White House, it is mistaken. The voices and power of the people will ultimately prevail. As former First Lady Michelle Obama once said, ‘When they go low, we go high.’” – NDP Executive Director Precious McKesson
