Nebraska Democratic Party Statement on the SCOTUS Ruling Denying Trump’s Mail-in Ballot Restrictions
LINCOLN, NE – The Nebraska Democratic Party praises the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to uphold a lower court’s injunction on key provisions of Donald Trump’s March 2026 executive order that sought to impose federal restrictions on mail-in voting. The last-minute ruling is a major victory for voting rights, state sovereignty, and democratic access.
The Nebraska Democratic Party Chair and ASDC President Jane Kleeb issued the following statement regarding the executive order being blocked:
"This is a win for every voter who depends on mail ballots to participate in our democracy, like the elderly, disabled, overseas, or voters in rural areas. This is especially true for eleven rural counties in Nebraska that cast their ballot by mail exclusively.
The Supreme Court correctly recognized that states – not federal agencies – have the constitutional authority to run elections and determine who is eligible to vote.
The nation avoided mass confusion, delayed ballots, and disenfranchising millions of Americans, all because Donald Trump decided he wanted to create chaos.”
