Nebraska Democrats Condemn Republicans’ Misleading Attacks on Democratic Candidates
LINCOLN, NE – The Nebraska Democratic Party issued the following statement following negative ads targeting a candidate for Nebraska’s Second Congressional District:
Republican Speaker Mike Johnson is lying to Nebraska voters. Mailers and digital ads falsely linking Democratic State Senator John Cavanaugh to Donald Trump have one goal – to mislead and confuse Democratic primary voters in Nebraska’s Second Congressional District.
It won’t work.
Republicans are desperate. Trump’s poll numbers are tanking, costs are rising, and broken promises are piling up. So instead of running on their record, they’re playing games.
- Republicans removed Democratic Douglas County Sheriff candidate Mark Martinez from the ballot. We sued all the way to the Nebraska Supreme Court – and won.
- Republicans removed Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Cindy Burbank from the ballot. We sued all the way to the Nebraska Supreme Court – and won.
- Now they are sending mailers lying about John Cavanaugh supporting Donald Trump.
Nebraska Democrats have a strong, diverse field of candidates running in the primary.
