Nebraska Democratic Party Statement on Lincoln Petition Signature Scam Tied to Republican Operatives
LINCOLN, NE – The Nebraska Democratic Party Chair and ASDC President Jane Kleeb issued the following statement regarding the Lincoln petition signature scam involving Republican operative Jessican Flanagan, and Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers’ inaction:
“In one of the more blatant efforts to disrespect the petition process in our state, the Good Government Lincoln group and the Republican operatives behind it submitted fraudulent signatures in an attempt to shift the political landscape in the city. Behind this failed and embarrassing effort is former advisor to Jim Pillen and current advisor to Pete Ricketts, Jessica Flanagan, at Axiom Strategies.
We call on Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers to follow through on his priority of ‘petition integrity’ in this case and not when it suits him or his party allies. His job is to work for Nebraskans, not our state’s Republican leadership who pour money and resources to buy our local and statewide elections.
This calls into question all petition efforts led by these Pillen and Ricketts associates, including the new Nebraska Working People Party, and those signatures should be fully scrutinized by the legal process.
We call on Ricketts to denounce the practices of Jessica Flanagan and other Republican operatives and firms he is currently using that were involved in this scandal.”
