Do not Pass GO– Do not Collect $200

Home Alone 2: Lost In New York actor Donald J. Trump was arraigned on Tuesday, which is just a fancy way of saying he was formally charged by authorities. Trump is currently spending his time hoping he rolls doubles on his next turn.

The arraignment came after a rigorous investigation by Manhattan Defense Attorney Alvin Bragg. The investigation resulted in Trump being indicted on 34 counts of criminal charges stemming from illegal business practices surrounding his hush-money payment to porn star Stormy Daniels. One can only assume that DA Bragg and his team have a mountain of evidence that rivals Mt. Everest.

To get into the weeds of the case, the illegal practices stem from an alleged $100,000 payment that former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen made to Stormy Daniels ahead of the 2016 election in order to conceal the information from the public ahead of Election Night in America.

The Biggest Loser

While Trump may have gotten his fame from NBC’s reality TV show, The Apprentice, I feel as if another NBC reality show, The Biggest Loser, may have been a better fit.

The President is SO proud of his status of being the BIGGEST loser that he even keeps a running list of his biggest losses! To the right, we have an unprecedented look into former President Trump’s to-do list, found in his personal diary.

This indictment of President Trump is not a political witch hunt or a kangaroo court investigation or anything other than a simple carrying out of justice. Former President or not, the same laws should apply to every single American. The notion that President Trump or anyone is “above the law” is authoritarian and gravely concerning.

An Accountability Problem

One of the most accepted realities of life is that actions have consequences. If I were to curse out my boss, I would expect to get fired. If I were to never do homework, I would expect to fail my classes. And if I were to be indicted on numerous criminal charges, I would expect to have the full support of the GOP in my bid for President of the United States!

The real indictment of the Trump fiasco is on the moral fiber of the GOP. For a party that brands itself on “family values”, it is rather hypocritical that the leader of their party has the vulgarity of a high school boy, is on his 3rd marriage, and is about to be locked up for giving $100,000 to a porn star… yikes.

The willingness of the Republican Party to denounce anything that Trump does is deeply concerning. This lack of courage is best exemplified by Nebraska’s own Don Bacon (NE-02). Despite cosplaying as a moderate, Rep. Bacon voted with MAGA representative and Trump VP wannabe Marjorie Taylor Greene 96% of the time according to the right wing watchdog group Indivisible.

The current Republican platform is one of appeasement. If Trump likes an idea, it’s part of the platform; and if not, it’s labeled as a radical left socialist idea.

The Consequences of Appeasement

Alexander Hamilton once said, “If you stand for nothing, you’ll fall for anything” and right now, the GOP is in free fall. The willingness to flip policy stance on a dime, defend criminals, and blatantly lie to the faces of voters is amoral at best, and treasonous on its worst days.

The level of disrespect that the Trump led GOP affords voters is not a level of disrespect that anyone would tolerate from friends, family, or coworkers, yet the MAGA politicians expect Americans to turn a blind eye.

Now more than ever, the people of the United States need politicians who they can rely on and trust. With the GOP continuing to show their true colors and lack of morals, the Democrats are the only party currently capable of providing that trust and consistency.

If you are looking to get involved…
