We understand the Nebraska Secretary of State published a statement on the non-issue of our Welcome Baskets to refugees and immigrants calling Nebraska their new home. All voter registration forms, that can be downloaded from the Nebraska Secretary of State’s website, were removed from the baskets.

Murante suggesting we both ask the Nebraska Secretary of State to put a voter registration form online that is watermarked with the word “sample” so any group that is educating young people or refugees not yet eligible to vote understand the process we use to be a registered voter. Right now anyone can complete or download a voter registration form online and we suggest an education tool be added to assist groups who want to expand democracy in our state.Our party has full confidence in the County Election Commissioners when they use their local systems to verify any voter registration form that comes into their office. Our state has tremendous staff at the local and state level that protect the integrity of our voting systems. We believe in our voting systems and the basic fact that voter fraud is not an issue in our state or country despite the false claims of Pres. Trump.To be crystal clear, the NDP in no way encourages or participates in fraudulent voter registrations. Our state does not have a voter fraud issue. Unfortunately, some Republicans in our state continue to use this bogeyman to put in place practices that suppress the vote.
