Nebraska Democratic Party Chair Kleeb Issues Response to Governor Pillen’s Anti-Transgender Executive Order
LINCOLN, NE – The Nebraska Democratic Party’s Chair Kleeb issued the following response to Governor Pillen’s Executive Order No 23-16:
“Governor Pillen is gleeful about taking away women’s reproductive healthcare–a right women held for the past 50 years–and yet has the audacity to pretend he is a champion of women. The next time Pillen wants to copy an executive order from an out-of-state activist group that is focused on dividing our state and making transgender Nebraskans feel like they don’t exist maybe he should do that as a representative of the Republican Party, not from the Governor’s office that is supposed to represent all Nebraskans regardless of their race, gender, sexual orientation or ability.
Governor Pillen continues to alienate women and discriminate against members of the LGBTQIA+ community. His administration has yet again created more controversy rather than solutions for contributing members of society and student-athletes. The Governor simply wishes to ignore the existence of Nebraskans which tells us everything we need to know about his character. As the second Governor in the country to issue such a divisive executive order, he proves he is willing to target the transgender community which is constantly under attack. One minute he is doing the bidding of Ricketts, the next he is deferring to an out-of-state activist group on how to govern Nebraska. By issuing this Executive Order, Governor Pillen once again proves he does not represent the will of the people and maintains a hostile attitude towards the LGBTQIA+ community in our state.”
Note: Pillen’s executive order was modeled after the one written on https://womensbillofrights.com. The push to get the “Bill of Rights” passed in states is sponsored by an activist group once called “Women for Clarence Thomas.” They are funded by the Koch Brothers.
