Crowded Clown Car and more — #NebDems News

It’s been quite a run of late for the GOP in Nebraska.

First, Gov. Pete Ricketts continues doing everything he can to be the North of the Mason-Dixon Line version of Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, which resulted in a terse admonishment from the Lincoln Journal Star editorial board for him to quit grandstanding and do his job.

Then we had state Sen. Rob Clements of Elmwood sign on to a letter addressed “To the American People” that seeks a forensic audit of every state election in 2020, similar to the just-completed audit in Maricopa County, Ariz. That months-long review, conducted by allies of former President Donald Trump, concluded last month with presidential vote counts virtually identical to the county’s official tally in Joe Biden’s favor.

Clements followed that up by teaming with Sen. Ben Hansen of Blair in circulating a petition asking lawmakers to call a special session to consider legislation prohibiting businesses from requiring employees get vaccinated against the coronavirus. The special session would also consider prohibiting governments and schools from mandating COVID vaccines.

Then, Attorney General Doug Petersen issued an opinion saying that doctors who prescribe horse de-wormer to humans to fight COVID-19 will not face discipline.

But the pièce de résistance came Tuesday, when GOP Rep. Jeff Fortenberry was indicted for lying to the FBI during its investigation of campaign contributions funneled to him from a Nigerian billionaire.

Alas, the question begs: How many clowns can you cram into this car?
