Nebraska Democratic Party Statement on JD Vance’s Speech in North Platte in Nebraska’s Third Congressional District

LINCOLN, NE – The Nebraska Democratic Party Executive Director Precious McKesson issued the following statement after JD Vance’s speech in North Platte in Nebraska’s Third Congressional District today:

“JD Vance stumped for Nebraska Republicans today, and it was much of what we expected from a former Trump-hater turned loyalist. Vance’s speech focused 90% on Pete Ricketts, which is an indicator that his race is in trouble and that our coalition to support Dan Osborn is working. His announcement of billion-dollar domestic fertilizer production is too little, too late for farmers and ranchers in our state and across the country. The Vice President talked about family values yet somehow ignores all the chaos and corruption around him with the Trump Administration.

True to MAGA behavior, Vance called Democrats enemies while a banner of “Defend our Future” waved behind him. It seems the only future they are fighting for involves those who agree with their extreme policies.

We find it ironic that Vance would hold an event in a town that embodies many working communities in our state. The fact that it will be held during the middle of the day proves that local Republicans are not serious about working families, farmers, and ranchers.

Today’s event was another photo opportunity for Vance, Ricketts, Flood, and Smith while Nebraskans continue to deal with higher prices, more expensive diesel and fertilizer, and lose their health care coverage.

Voters in Nebraska have answered the call to vote early. We will continue to encourage voters to vote early in person, drop off their mail-in ballot, or have a plan to vote on Election Day. ”
