President Trump is pulling the United States out of the Paris Climate Accords

President Trump is pulling the United States out of the Paris Climate Accords, an international agreement to combat climate change. This is an incredibly dangerous move that is going to not only damage the US’s relationship with our allies, but also put our children and future generations at risk. This accord being signed by 195 countries around the world was a clear sign of us fighting for a better tomorrow. Now President Trump is showing he doesn’t care about the future of our planet and is at odds with almost every country in the world.

The Nebraska Democratic Party has a petition up asking the Congressional Delegation is they stand with Trump’s climate denial. Sign the petition.

Statement from Chair Jane Kleeb on Trump pulling United States out of the Paris Climate Agreement:

“In one of the most reckless moves so far of his presidency, Trump throws our kids and our economy under the bus as he cowers to a minority of individuals who ignore climate science.

Our farms, ranches and communities across our state rely on clean water, clean air and clean soil. Any logical person knows expanding fossil fuels risks our land, water and air.

This action by President Trump cedes our position as a leader in the world, joining only Nicaragua and Syria in denying a stronger economy and safer future to our children.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln has extensive research on how climate change impacts our state’s economy. If Trump will not listen to scientists at the national level, maybe he can read the reports from a university in the Heartland that lays out the risks of the status quo.

Since our entire Congressional Delegation including Fischer, Sasse, Bacon, Fortenberry and Smith continue to give Trump political cover for reckless actions, we can only assume they also agree with this latest move by Trump. We wait to see if they will prove us wrong.”
