Repugnant Republican Run and more — #NebDems News

If you haven’t noticed, the Nebraska GOP is on a repugnant run.

State Sen. Mike Groene resigned in shame on Monday after he was accused of taking photos of a female staffer without her knowledge and circulating them with inappropriate captions.

This is just the latest in a litany of GOP atrocities.

–Rep. Jeff Fortenberry is under federal indictment for allegedly lying to the FBI about illegal donations funneled to his campaign.

–Auditor Charlie Janssen was caught spending many afternoons drinking at a Lincoln bar instead of doing his job.

–Former Sen. Bill Kintner was accused of a string of inappropriate behavior while in office, including a cyber-sex scandal using his state computer.

–Former Lt. Gov. Rick Sheehy resigned after it was revealed that he made dozens of phone calls and texts on a state cell phone to women other than his wife.

—Board of Education member Pat McPherson refused to resign after it was discovered he had made racist comments online.

Meanwhile, the GOP gubernatorial hopefuls are flooding the airwaves with TV ads touting their “credentials” to be governor.

In short (this is a mix): I played Husker football a long, long, long time ago, I love only Christians. I love guns. I will defend our “precious Nebraska way of life,” (read: people of color not welcomed).

Veteran political operative Precious McKesson has been named executive director of the Nebraska Democratic Party. Jim Rogers, who served the party in various roles over the last decade, is leaving the post and transitioning to the private sector.

“Jim has served our party for over eight years as executive director and over 10 in other roles under five different chairs — myself, Chair Powers, Chair Covalt, Chair Achelpohl and Chair Boyle, ” said NDP Chair Jane Kleeb. “Jim was an ally, equipped to deal with difficult situations, respected all of our volunteer party leaders and worked with candidates from school boards to the U.S. Senate in order to help them win. It has been an honor serving alongside Jim as he led the NDP staff and helped build our party.”

McKesson will assume the role of Executive Director in late March.
