BRUNING PLAYS BOTH SIDES IN PRISON SCANDAL INVESTIGATION

LINCOLN– Led by Attorney General Jon Bruning, the state’s investigation into its own recent prison scandals has unsurprisingly presented a clear conflict.  Bruning has wrongfully acted as both defense counsel and prosecutor to state employees while conducting his own “investigation” into the state prison scandal.

“Another sad day for Nebraska as Attorney General Jon Bruning announced that he successfully defended corrections employees from prosecution by his office. One party rule in Nebraska now means that the Attorney General is both defense counsel and prosecutor for state corrections employees,” stated NDP Chair Vince Powers.  “Hopefully higher standards are upheld by our next Attorney General.”
