The Nebraska Democratic Party is proud to announce “Stand Up, Fight Back, Vote Democrats,” a rally in support of Democratic candidates in Lincoln and Omaha city elections. The rally will feature remarks from Senator Bernie Sanders, Democratic National Committee Chair Tom Perez, Omaha mayoral candidate Heath Mello and State Democratic Party Chair Jane Kleeb. Musicians–including the Mynabirds–will perform. The rally is part of a national tour sponsored by the DNC to connect with local elections and the grassroots base of the party.
“Local elections matter. We impact climate change with strong leaders like Heath Mello committing to clean energy jobs. We rebuild the Democratic party with strong leaders like Jane Kleeb bringing the grassroots into party,” said Senator Bernie Sanders. “Organizing is hard work but it wins elections. Nebraska Democrats are standing up with working class families to create a more connected community for real solutions.”
“I’m running for Mayor of Omaha to build a more welcoming, innovative and connected city for the next generation,” said Heath Mello. “Working class families in our city are looking for a new leadership, and that’s why I’m so excited to speak about my vision for Omaha alongside Senator Sanders and Chairman Perez.”
“Democrats are standing up and fighting back. To rebuild the Democratic Party we have to focus on local elections with candidates like Heath Mello and engaging the grassroots on issues like clean energy, universal pre-K and jobs that keep young people here in Nebraska. We are proud the national Democratic Party with Chair Perez and Sen. Sanders recognize the change is us, the change is in Nebraska.” -Jane Kleeb, Nebraska Democratic Party Chair
