Press release: NDP’s Kleeb, Blood comment in advance on Friday’s Nebraska rally with Trump and Herbster

Nebraska Democratic Party Chair Jane Kleeb and state Sen. Carol Blood, the Democratic gubernatorial candidate, issued the following statements in advance of Friday’s Nebraska rally by former President Donald Trump which touted Republican gubernatorial hopeful Charles Herbster as a “special guest.”

Herbster, who is endorsed by Trump, was recently accused of groping eight women — including GOP state Sen. Julie Slama. Herbster helped fund the Stop the Steal event and was in the room with the Trump family the night before the Jan. 6 insurrection.

“Herbster and Trump embody today’s Republican Party — liars, sexual predators, spreader of conspiracy theories and tax dodgers,” Kleeb said. “The Republican Party has ripped each other apart during the campaign running ads on made-up issues meant to divide and scare voters. The Republican playbook is tired and worn out. Senator Blood and the entire Democratic Party are focused on issues that working families care about–fully funding our public schools, addressing the drought impacting the entire agriculture sector, cleaning up the environmental disaster in Mead, protecting property rights and creating a welcoming state with good paying jobs where young people want to stay and raise their families.”

Said Blood:

“It’s high time that politicians in this state and our nation get back to doing what is decent and right for the people, not just what’s in their best interests. We cannot go on like this and need to right the ship.”
