Nebraska Democratic Party Chair Jane Kleeb issued the following statement in reaction to Sunday’s Nebraska rally by former President Donald Trump for gubernatorial hopeful Charles Herbster who is endorsed by Trump.
Herbster was recently accused of groping by eight women. Herbster helped fund the Stop the Steal event and was in the room with the Trump family the night before the Jan. 6 insurrection.
“The cabal of shame was on full display at the Trump rally — spreading lies, hate and grievances. Trump looked desperate, invoking all his old one-liners, as he tries to cling to relevancy,” said Chair Kleeb. “The Republican Party is deeply divided as they head into the primary, giving Democrats the chance to create a winning coalition of all political stripes so we can finally address issues Nebraskans care about instead of the Republican Party fear-mongering.”
“Senator Carol Blood is focused on creating a welcoming state with good paying jobs where young people want to stay, cleaning up the environmental disaster in Mead, protecting property rights and fully funding our public schools. Nebraskans have a real choice for our next Governor — stay stuck in the past or break up the corrupt one-party rule with some new blood.”
