Press release: NDP’s McKesson praises signing of CHIPS bill, calls out Bacon, Flood and Smith for voting against the measure to hold American jobs hostage

Nebraska Democratic Party Executive Director Precious McKesson called out Nebraska’s three Republican House members for not supporting a bill aimed at boosting US semiconductor production that was signed Tuesday by President Joe Biden.

“Bacon, Flood and Smith should be ashamed for not supporting this legislation, which is now the law of the land,” said McKesson, who was at the White House for the signing ceremony. “They voted to hold American jobs hostage in favor of China.”

The bill is meant to increase American competitiveness, a bipartisan achievement that will send tens of billions of dollars into American manufacturing and scientific research.

The bill, which passed the Senate with broad bipartisan support, was passed by the House, even though 187 Republicans voted against it.
