The Nebraska Democratic Party announced Tuesday that U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts and Rep. Deb Haaland of New Mexico will headline the party’s Morrison Exon annual fundraising event on Sept 27, 2020.
The Morrison Exon event is the party’s main fundraiser and is held each year. Last year’s headliner was Speaker Nancy Pelosi and previous years speakers included Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Rep. Dingell, Attorney General Ellison and Pres. Obama.
“Sen. Warren never wavers in her support of working families and helping those who need it the most. As she once said, ‘What I’ve learned is that real change is very, very hard. But I’ve also learned that change is possible – if you fight for it,’ said Chair Jane Kleeb. “Elizabeth Warren is a true champion for the little guy, and we are honored and humbled that she will join us.”
“Rep. Deb Haaland is a champion for the Sovereign Rights of Tribal Nations. She made history as one of the first indigenous women to serve in Congress,” Kleeb said. “We are excited to hear her story of recovery and resilience and how she is fighting against big corporations every single day in order to protect the environment and American’s health.”
The NDP has two competitive Congressional races and two shots at taking the electoral votes in NE1 and NE2. Sen. Kate Bolz and Kara Eastman will facilitate the conversation between Sen. Warren and Rep. Haaland, showing the strength of women across our country.
The Morrison Exon event will be held online this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. The event theme is “At Home with Nebraska Democrats.”
The public is invited to attend the event. More about the event and get tickets, tables and sponsorship information on the NDP website, NebraskaDemocrats.org.
