Ricketts Refuses to Welcome 44th President of the United States to Nebraska

LINCOLN—Governor Pete Ricketts has rejected the White House’s invitation to attend President Obama’s speech at UNO’s Baxter Arena or greet President Obama at the airfield when he arrives in Omaha on Wednesday, January 13th.

Ricketts pettiness demonstrates how out of touch he is with Nebraskans. When President Clinton came to visit in Nebraska in 2000, Republican Governor Mike Johanns greeted him at the airport and attended President Clinton’s speech.

Nebraska Democratic Party Chair, Vince Powers made the following statement: “Governor Ricketts pettiness is disrespectful to the President and to all proud Nebraskans.  How terribly disappointing that Pete Ricketts still does not understand what it means to be the Governor of Nebraska.”
