THE NEBRASKA DEMOCRATIC PARTY SENDS ITS MOST DIVERSE DELEGATION TO PHILADELPHIA

Lincoln, NE –  The Nebraska Democratic Party sends its
most diverse delegation to the 2016 Democratic National Convention
with over 30% representing communities of color, 30% representing the LGBT
community, and representing all different areas of our state–urban, rural
and everything in between. The 2016 Democratic National Convention will take
place July 25th – July 28th in Philadelphia.

The 38 member delegation (listed
below) includes: 33 delegates, 3 standing committee members, and
2 delegation pages. Leaders accompanying the delegation to
Philadelphia include the Nebraska Public Service Commissioner Crystal
Rhodes, NDP Chair-Elect Jane Kleeb, NDP Executive Director Hadley Richters,
Lincoln City Councilwoman Leirion Gaylor Baird, NDP Finance Chair Andy Holland,
and former Lincoln City Councilman Dan Marvin.

The Nebraska Delegation includes members to Rules Committee,
Platform Committee, and Credentials Committee which will ratify the most
progressive Party Platform and see rule challenges to the Superdelegate policy.

Of the 38 total members of the Nebraska Delegation, 55% identify
as female, 32% identify as minorities (among them African American, Hispanic,
Native American, and/or AAPI), 32% are youths, 21% are seniors, 18% identify as
LGBTQ, 7% are students, 7% are representing organized labor unions, and 3% are
veterans of the US Armed Forces.
