Nebraska Democratic Party Statement on the Nebraska Supreme Court Ruling on Candidate Mark Martinez for Douglas County Sheriff
LINCOLN, NE – The Nebraska Democratic Party Chair and ASDC President Jane Kleeb issued the following statement following the Nebraska Supreme Court ruling placing candidate Mark Martinez on the ballot:
“Republicans tried to hand Douglas County a Sheriff without an election. The Nebraska Supreme Court just handed the Republicans a loss. Mark Martinez, a police officer and U.S. Marshal, will be on that ballot because voters, not party bullies, choose who keeps them safe. Aaron Hanson can’t win on the merits, so he tried to win by eliminating the competition. That’s not law enforcement. That’s political corruption.”
