Sen. Bob Krist, candidate for Nebraska Governor, issued the following statement today regarding Medicaid expansion on the November ballot.
“Unlike my opponent, Gov. Ricketts, I fully support and will vote ‘YES’ to provide healthcare to over 90,000 hard-working vulnerable Nebraskans who are currently unable to afford healthcare of their own.”
“The expansion of Medicaid makes fiscal sense and it makes moral sense. Fiscally, all Nebraskans are already paying taxes to the federal government that would help fund this program and the choice to enact it ensures those tax dollars come back to our state. In addition, those who are without healthcare or end up in the emergency room are costing all Nebraskans higher insurance premiums.”
“Morally, it’s the right thing to do for our fellow Nebraskans – both old and young, working families, rural and urban – who are the most vulnerable and less fortunate. It doesn’t make sense to deny healthcare services to 90,000 hard-working Nebraskans who are currently unable to afford healthcare of their own.”
