Days after CD2 candidate Tony Vargas called out Rep. Don Bacon for putting the gun lobby ahead of Nebraska children’s safety, Bacon is shamefully defending his decision to take NRA money and do their bidding.
His excuse? That the nearly $5,000 check he accepted from the NRA happened just before the Uvalde shooting that took the lives of 19 children and two teachers.
What Bacon failed to mention is that he still gladly took money from the gun lobby and voted against a bipartisan, common sense gun safety bill:
–Five days after the mass shooting in a Buffalo supermarket that killed 10 people.
–Six days after 17 people were injured during a mass shooting in downtown Milwaukee.
And as the United States is set to match or surpass its worst year on record for the number of mass shootings.
Said DCCC spokesperson Johanna Warshaw:
“When it comes to Don Bacon, one thing is clear: he takes the gun lobby’s money and does their bidding. Nebraska families deserve a leader who will fight for them, not one who puts the interests of gun manufacturers over the safety of our children.”
