Indivisible Action Day on Jan. 3

Indivisible is a great allied group. They have an Action Day coming up on Jan. 3 that your county party or caucus might want to plan an event around. They have have some good resource pages on the Trump Shutdown.

We’re just eight days away from the swearing in of the new, Democratically-controlled Congress you worked so hard to elect. And we’re on day four of Trump’s government shutdown.

On January 3, we must show up and project our newly-won congressional power in 2019. And we must demand our MoCs stand strong and continue to reject any new funding for Trump’s wall. And Indivisibles have more than 100 events planned to kick off the new Congress.

Indivisibles all over the country will show up at district offices or hold rallies in their community to tell their members of Congress (MoCs) that we’re not slowing down now. There’s a lot more in store for our movement: we’re ready to fight for progressive policies, support progressive champions, and hold both Republicans and Democrats accountable when they don’t fight for their constituents.

Your first 2019 to-do: show up on January 3.

Indivisibles across the country are planning a day of action on the first day of the new Congress. There aren’t any events in your area, yet. So, if you can, organize your own! Here’s what you can do:

First, check out our January 3 day of action toolkit, which includes a rundown on the democracy reform legislation H.R. 1, how to recruit attendees and plan your event logistics, and sample press and social media materials to customize.

Next, watch a recording of our webinar that covers all the best practices, tips, and tricks for hosting your event. You can also review the slide deck here.

Finally, make sure you register your event on our national map so we can help spread the word!

Can’t make it on January 3? Here are two things you can do to support our January 3 day of action from afar:

Read our #TrumpShutdown resource and demand a clean, year-long continuing resolution. Republicans are grasping onto their last bit of power in the House but, in eight days, that changes. This is #OurHouse, and in our house, we want a clean CR with no additional funding for the border wall, detention beds, and enforcement agents.

Read up on H.R. 1 and get your members of Congress on the record. We expect the first major legislative effort in a Democratically-controlled House to be a democracy reform effort called H.R. 1. Learn everything you need to know about H.R.1 and how to ask your representative to publicly demand that H.R. 1 be a bold, progressive, comprehensive democracy package.

Get your Whose House? Our House! gear. Want to rock Indivisible during the first 100 days? Get our latest #100Days merch and wear it to all your upcoming events.

We need all hands on deck to show off the strength that we built during the midterm elections from Day 1 of the next Congress. Join us on January 3 (at an event or from afar!) to let Congress know that we’re ready to keep fighting to resist the Trump agenda in 2019, 2020, and beyond.

In solidarity,
The Indivisible Team

Indivisible Project is a locally-led, people-powered movement of thousands of local groups in red, blue, and purple states, and in urban, suburban, and rural areas (at least two in every congressional district!). Our mission is to power and lift up a grassroots movement of local groups to defeat the Trump agenda, elect progressive leaders, and realize bold progressive policies.

Grassroots donations, not foundations or large gifts, are our single largest source of funding. That means we’re accountable to, and fueled by, Indivisibles on the ground. Chip in $7 to keep fueling our movement.
