Last night, Kansans turned out in record numbers to protect a woman’s right to make her own health care decisions, sending a clear message to Republicans working to institute abortion bans: we will vote you down.
This spells bad news for Don Bacon, as the GOP plots to institute a nationwide abortion ban and he’s left to defend his dangerous anti-choice positions.
In a major victory for abortion rights, Kansas voters on Tuesday rejected an effort to strip away their state’s abortion protections, sending a decisive message about the issue’s popularity in the first political test since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in June.
Here is a list of some of Bacon’s extreme stances:
–Wants to make abortion illegal even in cases of rape and incest or to prevent the death of a mother;
–Defended Texas’ radical six-week abortion ban with no exceptions for rape and incest that puts a bounty on anyone who helps a woman get an abortion;
–Voted to defund Planned Parenthood, which would restrict Nebraska women access to basic health care like cancer screenings and birth control.
Said DCCC spokesperson Johanna Warshaw:
“Don Bacon can no longer dodge or deflect by claiming voters aren’t motivated by Republicans’ plans to restrict abortion. Bacon will have to reckon with his own extreme positions when Nebraskans reject him in November. “
