NDP Chair Jane Kleeb issued the following statement Tuesday as Vice President Pence tours the flood damage in Nebraska. The flooding and recent blizzard have done more than $1 billion in damage alone to the ag sector.
“We welcome Vice President Pence to see firsthand the disaster our state is facing. Farmers and ranchers were already on razor thin margins with increased bankruptcies. We need major federal funding to assist the recovery and rebuilding of our great state,” Kleeb said. “There is simply no question we also need to confront climate change and create infrastructure that can withstand extreme weather.”
