Nebraska Democratic Party Statement on the passing of former State Senator and Lincoln Mayor Don Wesely
LINCOLN, NE – The Nebraska Democratic Party Chair Jane Kleeb issues the following statement regarding the passing of former state senator and Lincoln Mayor Don Wesely:
“Mayor Don Wesely was a statesman who cared deeply about Nebraska. Don led with kindness and compassion, always looking out for the underdog. As Mayor, he put Democrats on a path to winning elections up and down the ballot in Lincoln. As a state senator, he stood up for Tribal Nations and had a record of over 300 of his bills and initiatives becoming law—all when he entered the office at the age of 24. As Democrats, we are deeply saddened to lose such a fierce advocate and mentor to so many people across our state.”
