The Nebraska Democratic Party and Democratic U.S. Senate candidates said that Nebraskans should reject Sen. Ben Sasse’s bid for a second term, which he announced Monday.
“The people of Nebraska have been underserved by Sen. Sasse for too long and I say ENOUGH,” said U.S. Senate candidate Chris Janicek. “It’s time to vote him out. Why a sitting U.S. Senator from a top-producing ag state like Nebraska would resign from the Agriculture Committee is disturbing. That committee had a member from Nebraska for almost five decades and Sasse’s resignation ended that tradition.”
Senate candidate Angie Philips said: “Sen. Sasse’s biggest achievement of his career has been to prove that he doesn’t care, won’t listen and will not fight for the needs of our communities. Whether I’m at my home in North Omaha or back home out west, I hear the same sentiment: We don’t have a Senator. I’m running to give a voice to everyday Nebraskan’s regardless of where they live or how much money they make.”
Said candidate Dr. Dan Wik: “Ben Sasse has had six years to propose approaches to immigration and health care, now it is time for a common sense rural physician to give Nebraskans solutions rather than fancy talk.”
Precious McKesson, constituency director for the NDP, attended the Sasse announcement in Omaha and said: “Ben Sasse continues to show us he’s standing with Trump no matter what. We need a senator in D.C. who is for the people and not being controlled by the president. Sasse might talk tough, but ultimately falls in line with reckless President Trump.” McKesson said.
